Stacy and Stella is now offering a free crochet pattern for a cute blanket for an American Girl ® Doll!  This classic granny square throw is the perfect beginner project for someone learning to crochet. Once you can make a granny square you can use them to make throws, bags, hats and all sorts of other fun creations. This is crocheted in a fine gauge to keep it in proportion for the dolls. If you are a beginner you might like to practice with a larger hook and thinker yarn till you get the hang of it. This is a crochet pattern that you digitally download as a pdf file so you can start your new 18 inch doll project immediately. The Adobe pdf viewer is required. You simply print out the pdf and you’re ready to start. The Guidebook provides the step-by-step instructions for creating a blanket for your 18 inch doll.
Supplies Needed – 4 balls of 3 or 4ply fingering weight, wool or cotton in 4 different colors. The pattern includes a selection of color combinations that would go along with several different era’s as a suggestion to get you started.

Step-by-Step Instructions – These easy to follow instructions walk you through each step in completing your dolls new granny square throw.

The Pattern – This is a crochet pattern, you must be familiar with the crochet terms to understand the instructions. Yarn is not specified so please check your gauge.

    This is sooooooo confusing. I even looked it up on you tube. I am 11 years old and i can only crochet a line going on for ever!!! Van someone tell me a free way I can learn how to do this soon?????????

    It is sooooo cute but they say it is easy I don’t think so but I still really want to do this for my dolls!!!!

    Hi,

    I’m sorry you’re finding the pattern confusing. I’ve been working on a crochet basics guide which I’ll send through to Liberty Jane which hopefully will help. It breaks each of the stitches in the granny square down. The tricky thing about crocheting in the round rather than in a straight line is often where to insert you hook in the round before. Once you have that sorted you’re on your way.

    Keep trying, you’ll get there.

      I got the email. It is perfect timing because I am about to leave to go to my grandparents house wich is 16 hours away so this will be something good for me to do in the car!!!! If you have any other crocheting or knitting patterns that are free I would LOVE to have them!!!!

    Because I’m in New Zealand and the yarn types and colors will differ to what is available in the USA, they really are only a guide to get you started. Feel free to adapt to what ever you have available. I used a combination of Milford and Panda Regal cotton for the prototype.
