How To Make A Doll Hammock FREE DIY
Product Information
We’ve always been fond of the Hammock that AG put our with their Lanie Doll a few years ago, but never got one and now it’s retired… So we thought we’d try to make one of our own. With a few craft items, and some trial and error we came up with this super sute, and surprisingly sturdy DIY version. This size works great for all types of dolls like American Girl®, BFC Ink ®, Ellowyne ®, Barbie ®, Blythe ®, Karito Kids ®, and more…
The video tutorial will walk you throught he entire process, it goes together pretty quickly when using a hot glue gun because it dries so quickly. This project may require adult supervision because of the use of a hot glue gun and an iron. Other supplies needed are medium size craft dowels, large popsicle sticks, thin rope or twine, fabric (a fat quarter works great!). You can use Steam-A-Seam with an iron or a sewing machine for the hems and casing on the fabric.

What a great idea Cinnamon! I’m in love with your American Girl Doll #43′s top! How did you manage to make the applique on it??
Hi Rachel
Actually, my 13 yr. old daughter Makena made that shirt. To make the applique she used an old t-shirt that had the bird as part of the design on it. She ironed heat and bond to the back side. Then carefully cut out the shape of the bird and the branch. Peeled off the backing paper on the heat and bond then ironed the bird to the tank top. Then she sewed around the edge just to be sure it oesn’t peel off over time. Maybe this is another good project to show in a video
Thank you for the tutorial Cinnamon! What length are the dowels?
You’re welcome
Dowels are 12 inches long 3/16 width. The popsicle sticks or large craft sticks are 6″ x 3/4″
Great little tutorial but a printable pdf file would have been more useful. Can’t bring my desktop into the craft room.
Hmmm, ok thanks for the suggestion… but please remember that this is a free giveaway. To make a full step by step pdf tutorial would take a lot of time/work and would result in being a paid product. Hope this makes sense
It’s really not that complicated to make, just take a few notes while watching the video and you should be acble to put it together. All of the products used came straight out of the package with minor modifications…
A pdf would be helpful. It’s too hard to follow a video when you are making something so complicated.
