Lily of the Valley Dress Pattern

Lily of the Valley Dress

LJ to Pixie button purchase

Pattern Overview:

Treat your doll to this unique blend of corners and curves — from the box pleats to the sinuous yoke sections, Lily of the Valley is a frock for the doll who likes a bit of spice in her wardrobe.  It’s hard to beat a classic ribbon bow, though; and when you pair it with some fabulous buttons, chances are you’ve got a dress your doll will turn to time and again.

Lily of the Valley was engineered for the cleanest, smoothest finish possible — despite the six sloping pleats, which begin lower in front than in back for the most flattering line, the skirt has a minimum of seams.  A partial lining floats down from the neckline to just below the waist, while strips of self-fabric bind the armholes. The dress closes up the back with an invisible zipper.

Supplies Needed:

  • 1/3 yard fabric
  • 1/4 uard lining fabric
  • Scraps for contrast
  • Six buttons – 1/4″ to 3/8″
  • One 7-9″ invisible zipper
  • 1-2/3 yard of 1/2″ wide ribbon

Pattern Details:  This is an Intermedaite level sewing pattern.

This dress works well in a fine-wale corduroy, but you could also use a lightweight wool or a fun printed cotton.  We suggest a lightweight polyester, rayon, or cotton muslin for the lining.

The PDF sewing pattern provides step-by-step instructions, full size pattern pieces, and a text only summary of written instructions. Download link is received just after payment is processed. The Adobe pdf viewer is required. You simply print out the pdf and you’re ready to start.

I’ve bought most of your dress patterns, they are unique, a challenge, beautiful. It would be helpful if you mentioned using tailor tacks to mark dots and other points of need. you created the patterns and understand the construction. your patterns are advanced for many DOLL SEWERS and can be discouraging to many. I love how you play with your dolls. My dolls wish we could come and play with you, we could bring some shoes for your girls. We worry that they will hurt thier bare feet. Please keep the patterns coming. ps. I’m looking forward to next November, where I’ll introduce your lovely dresses at my once a year sale. Jessie and my girls

Why are so many of the patterns using zippers?
    Most girls prefer Velcro closers.
How about having the Velcro option included ?

I received the Lily of the Valley pattern (pdf) After cutting out the pattern pieces the dress would appear to be much too small (&short) for 18 in doll. Did i do something incorrect in downloading the pattern?
