“I have been selling American Girl doll clothes for 14 years, primarily at craft shows. It was a great way to make money and stay at home with my children. I was always fascinated with garment construction, always tried to figure out how things were put together. I started sewing (badly) in the second grade, by the fifth grade I was making clothes for friends, by high school I was getting paid for it. I have done bridal and custom sewing for people, but I honestly prefer sewing for dolls. I love working in miniature.
I learned a lot about sewing from my mother (she managed a fabric store, so I grew up around fabric and seamstresses) but I also learned a lot from old pattern drafting books (Adele Margolis wrote some of the best and easiest to use drafting books). I have always been frustrated by traditional patterns. I really believe that the instructions are written in the easiest way for the writer to write, not the sewer to sew.
I hope you enjoy my patterns”
